Our Fair Trade Organic House Blend is predominately an American coffee, and perhaps that’s why its flavors come together so harmoniously. It offers subtle shades of the same palette (or palate, if you choose) with complementary flavor notes that don’t compete for attention. Typical of a breakfast blend it’s a lighter roast; however, it doesn't have alarmingly bright, teeth-tingling acidity.

Flavor Chart

Look for balance, warmth, and certainly enough vitality and vibrancy to be a breakfast blend. While we’ve developed this blend to be a favorite first taste of the day, a great many of us enjoy drinking this blend throughout the day.

A Swiss Water® Process decaffeinated coffee.

"Yes! power to the people with this beautifully structured and balanced coffee."

Overall Rating: 89 points (out of 100)
Intense and rather harmonious profile combining crisp cedar and cardamom notes with a pronounced undercurrent of sweet orange fruit and a hint of milk chocolate. Rich flavor persistence in the short finish dampened by a slight astringency in the long. Who should drink it: those who avoid caffeine but enjoy complexity.

We often source coffees for this blend from PRODECOOP. Based in the Segovia region of northern Nicaragua, PRODECOOP now includes 40 cooperatives and 2,318 families. Of all the coffee growing communities that we work with, Nicaragua most prominently depends on strong female leadership. Women in the community often lead all aspects of coffee farming and processing, which we are happy and proud to support.

With revenues from Fair Trade sales, PRODECOOP has purchased a dry mill, and new machinery and equipment, all of which contribute to the cooperative’s quality standards. Fair Trade revenue and funding from various institutions have allowed PRODECOOP to install a quality control center and cupping lab. PRODECOOP has also implemented quality standards for its dry milling process and is currently creating a quality control center to regulate its export production.

PRODECOOP received high scores at the 2003 Nicaraguan Cup of Excellence competition, solid proof of the cooperative's attention to quality.
