Tasting Notes
Our Fair Trade Huatusco Decaf offers brisk, lime-citrus acidity, and sweet notes of sugar cane and agave nectar. Its finish is engaging, vanilla-toned and sparkling clean.

Rating: 88 Points (out of 100)
"Gently sweet aroma with hints of wood and molasses. Delicate but well-balanced in the cup, with medium body, soft mouthfeel, and flavor notes of aromatic wood, fruit-toned chocolate, and a citrusy quality reminiscent of sweet lemony tea. Some sweetness persists in the finish, though it fades rather quickly."

Notes From Origin
The Unión Regional de Pequeños Productores de Café Huatusco was formed in 1992 by a group of small-scale family farmers who decided to take responsibility for lifting their community out of the extreme poverty they faced. Their success has been remarkable, and today the co-op boasts more than 1,908 small farmers among its members, including 600 women.
The increased revenue that Fair Trade and Organic coffee provides the farmers in this co-op has enabled them to establish education facilities in rural areas, and build regional healthcare centers for several villages.
Ecologically-minded, they've also used Fair Trade revenues to fund a reforestation program, while training their members in shade-tree cultivation and terracing, and to improve and expand their organic program, which now includes nearly 500 of its member farmers.
The co-op, known to us simply as "Huatusco", also hosts 13 Green Mountain Coffee and Keurig, Inc. employees every year in January for a few days of coffee tasting, cherry picking and friendship. Each year, Green Mountain Coffee and Keurig send 3 groups on Origin Trips. One goes to Mexico, one goes to Nicaragua and the other goes to Guatemala. To date, about 20% of our employees have been on these invaluable trips.
