Product Details Return to Top Tasting Notes Green tea leaves come from the same plant as traditional black tea, but are quickly dried to preserve their vibrant color and natural antioxidants. We’ve blended our authentic decaf green tea with delicate, decaffeinated Bai Mu Dan white tea – one of the rarest and youngest of teas – to create a smooth, balanced cup with a pleasantly mild flavor. Ingredients:Decaffeinated green tea and decaffeinated white tea. Gluten Free. Decaffeination Process Celestial Seasonings® Green and Black teas are decaffeinated using carbon dioxide (CO2), the same compound that plants breathe in daily. This process is also known as effervescent decaffeination. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is usually a gas. Under extreme high pressure during the decaffeination process, it becomes a liquid that is used to extract the caffeine from the tea leaf. After reducing the pressure, the CO2 becomes a gas again and disappears completely from the tea leaf. The temperature and pressure are carefully controlled to maximize the removal of caffeine and retain the beneficial compounds in the tea.
