Tasting Notes

Deep, dark and satisfying, our Fair Trade Organic French Roast arrives at its rich taste and complex flavors through the artful blending of multiple roast styles. Its flavors are a reflection of the warm days, cool nights and high elevation along the volcanic shores of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala's most famous — and arguably its most beautiful — crater lake.

Flavor Chart Rating: 85 Points (out of 100)

A very dark roast yields a deep, smoky, charred-wood aroma, complicated by remote hints of caramel and roasted nut. Medium-body, smooth mouthfeel, with gentle charred wood notes dominating the flavor and carrying into the finish.
— Kenneth Davids, CoffeeReview.com, August 2009

Notes From Origin

We've found this great cooperative called Asociacion Chajulense Val Vaq Quyol, which means "only one voice", located in Chajul, El Quiche, Guatemala. Sometimes we put their coffee in our Fair Trade Organic French Roast. We've been working hard to get to know the co-op better - two Employee Origin Trip groups have visited, and even our CEO Larry Blanford visited them in January 2008. Chajulense, as we call the co-op, has about 1,600 members and they're able to sell all their coffee as Fair Trade Certified. The co-op has also diversified their production to include cardamom, honey, milk, and cheese; they built an inn to promote local tourism; they opened an Ixil culture center; and they fund the production of traditional women's dresses.

Comments about Green Mountain Coffee 10oz FTO French Roast:

I like good coffee but I've never gone to lengths to order a specific one. This coffee was sent to a co-worker as a gift, and she brought it in to share. Wow!! The aroma was just beautiful, the flavor was intense but also smooth and easy to drink. Best coffee I've ever made, hands down!
