Nestled beside a poppy field in the countryside of Italy, a pottery has been crafting treasured ceramics for hundreds of years. For this slender beauty, the potters revive a 16th century technique known as “scraffito.” Two layers of slip, or liquid clay, are applied to the unfired ceramic body. The design is then scratched in. Ours features fanciful curlicues in cream and mocha colors.
